It's Called HomeSCHOOL Curriculum for a Reason!
Homeschool curriculum? I have to have a curriculum? If you’ve arrived on this page, you probably heard the pros and cons of homeschooling.
Homeschooling for the Right Reasons
I’ve seen kids come into high school from a home school background and graduate first in their class. I’ve also seen kids (more specifically parents) who use homeschool as a way to circumvent public education, and do a horrible injustice to their kids. One thing is clear, if you’re really interested in homeschooling, make sure you’re doing it for the right reason, make sure you're fully committed and prepared, and leave any hidden agenda at the door.
The Importance of Curriculum, Schedules and Purpose
If you decide to homeschool, you should look into the various homeschool programs and products available online. You need to run your program like a school which includes curriculum, schedules, testing, homework and discipline. There’s a natural tendency to slack if you don’t make and stick to schedules. Homeschooling is no different.

The Socialization Issue
One issue that seemed to pop up over and over was that of socialization. Socialization is important, but it isn’t mutually exclusive with homeschooling. Homeschool doesn’t mean locking your kids up in your house. Today many communities have support groups and educational programs tailored specifically for homeschooled kids. These programs put you in contact with other homeschool families, who in turn broaden your children’s circle of friends. There are numerous accredited homeschool programs, and associations where you can turn for help. Just remember, you’re not alone in this process. Make sure you use all available resources... it's your kid’s education you’re dealing with.
